The Man behind the Name

Graham Beck, founder and patriarch of Graham Beck Wines, was truly an extraordinary visionary and a remarkable man. It was his dream to create an unrivalled world class wine experience here in the Cape at the tip of the African continent. In 1983 he purchased Madeba, a farm just outside Robertson, with the intention of creating a top class winery.

Always up for a challenge he declared the estate's flagship would be none other than a sparkling wine. Fortuitously the area, with its outstanding climate and rich limestone soils, proved to be ideal for the cultivation of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir - the two traditional Cap Classique varieties.

The rest as they say is history and today Graham Beck is considered one of the country's finest MCC producers and eminently worthy of sharing the international stage with the best of the bunch. GORGEOUS pays tribute to Mr Beck's unswerving passion for bubbly and celebrates his deep love and appreciation for the finer things in life. His infectious zest uplifted and inspired all those who knew him. As an entrepreneur, pioneer and philanthropist, his legacy lives on. Ad Honorem (Latin for 'to the honour') aptly describes our winemaking ethos and commitment to quality and consistency.

It is with great fondness that we remember Mr Beck as having an unerring gift for bringing beauty and style into the lives of so many. His

great affection for works of art, the splendour of Mother Nature and the elegance and grace of thoroughbred horses is evident throughout the Beck family's estates.

Fittingly Mr Beck always had a compliment for the ladies and his characteristically warm "hello my gorgeous" greeting elicited many a smile and endeared him to all those fortunate to meet this 'gentle' man. GORGEOUS by Graham Beck is a playful and nostalgic nod to this infectious sense of fun, adventure and deep appreciation for the beauty which surrounds us.
